About Linda
Hello, my name is Linda. I spend a lot of time in Gnome Land, the spare room where the gnomes have started to take over and climb the walls, creating 1-of-a-kind gnomes.
It all started with a Christmas gift from Sweden: a little grey 6-inch Scandinavian gnome. I said to myself,
“this is so cute! I could make one!”
I grew up with a creative mother who made everything from scratch. I watched her with the sewing machine and learned by trial and error. I started with some scrap material to practise and…
Gnome of 1 Kind was born!
I wanted to create unique gnomes that cannot be purchased anywhere else. No two gnomes are alike, and I love that each one cannot be replicated.
I design the body, and with each step, the gnome’s personality comes alive. The colour inspires me to decide how the gnome will grow, and after many sleepless but inspired nights, the gnome is made step-by-step with attention to detail.
I use a mixture of new and upcycled high quality materials and combine them to create a distinctive character. A lot of time goes into delicately stuffing arms and legs, braiding pigtails, grooming beards, and hand stitching everything together.
Part of me doesn’t want to say ‘goodbye’, but I know that each gnome will give joy and find a special place in your life.
